The Anderson Lab would like to extend a warm welcome to two new graduate students. Beatrice Severance and Elizabeth Mei have chosen to join our lab after their rotations. Beatriz Severance graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a M.S. in Plant Pathology. Beatrice’s previous work revolved around soil metagenomics and then studying the pecan mycobiome. She is excited to research eukaryotes in the microbiome and human health in the Anderson Lab. Elizabeth Mei grew up in Canada and earned her B.S. in Molecular Genetics, Immunology and M.S. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto. She joined the Taipale group at the University of Toronto, where she studied how bacterial toxins invade and kill human cells. Here at the Anderson Lab, she is hoping to identify and functionally annotate genetic factors involved in parasex. Welcome to the lab, Elizabeth and Beatrice!
